Custom Hanboks

Custom Hanboks as a wedding present from my birth family.

About ‘A Fortunate Cookie’

My original intent of this little blog was to be about random, sometimes funny, things that happen to me because I’m Asian. This has evolved into random things I Just want to write about, my birth family reunion story, and everything in between and obviously mostly centered around anything to do with my Asianness.

Since I was adopted, and a lot of strangers don’t know that, I get a lot of stereotypical questions and comments. I thought I’d share some of those stories, because if you know me, then they are either funny or really annoying to me. Let’s just all learn to not stereotype people based on looks. This is my attempt to inform you on how to not stereotype Asians.

About Jo, Mee Ree

My name is Megan and I am a Korean adoptee. I was flown to Tennessee when I was 3 months old. I have lived here ever since. I was born and raised in the South, ya’ll! I’m a thirty-something, wife, mom, and computer programmer. I love watching scary movies with my husband, listening to oldies out on the porch, and having family dance parties.
